02 / PORTFOLIO NOTES

Useful context.
Not a crystal ball.

A desktop portfolio can help bring balances and activity into focus. Market prices move, displayed values are estimates, and past performance says nothing certain about what comes next.

Slow down.
Look closer.

A few deliberate checks help you stay in control. Your recovery phrase is the key to your wallet—keep it private, offline, and out of every website or support chat.

01⌑

Connect with care

Use trusted cables and official software sources. Ignore unsolicited support links and unexpected downloads.

02⌕

Read every detail

Check the recipient, asset, network, and fee on the hardware device—not just in the desktop window.

03✳

Protect your privacy

Avoid sharing screenshots with balances or account identifiers. Keep software and your computer up to date.

No legitimate support agent needs your recovery phrase. Anyone requesting it is trying to take control of your assets.

Ledger Live Desktop:
start with the essentials

Ledger Live Desktop is a companion for viewing digital assets while keeping transaction approvals with your hardware wallet. Before installing wallet software, verify the download through Ledger’s official website, check the publisher, and update your operating system. Never install support tools sent through unsolicited messages.

On connection, confirm your device is genuine and follow prompts on its screen. Your recovery phrase belongs offline: never type it into a computer, share it with support, photograph it, or enter it on a website. Anyone requesting it wants control of your assets.

A portfolio view can clarify balances, but displayed values are estimates that change with market prices. Review the network, recipient address, amount, and fees before approving transactions on the device. A desktop interface cannot reverse a confirmed blockchain transfer.

For privacy, use trusted networks, update software, and avoid screenshots revealing balances or account details. Treat unsolicited links and urgent warnings skeptically. Start with a small test transaction, keep secure offline backups, and consult official documentation whenever a step feels unfamiliar. Verify addresses and networks; pause if requests feel rushed or confusing. Careful habits reduce mistakes, but no checklist guarantees safety or prevents every loss. Understand each approval fully before continuing.
